DO NOT EMAIL OR BLOG YOURSELF OUT OF A JOB BEFORE YOU EVEN GET IT

The Wonderful World of the World Wide Web

With a few simple keystrokes, employers can now found out a wealth of information about you before even meeting you. Anything written by you or about you on the web is easily accessible and is fair game for employers. And nowadays employers are definitely doing their homework on potential law clerks and associates. If you are utilizing websites such as Myspace, Facebook, and Friendster to put your party face on, be forewarned, potential employers can also view those lively pictures from that awesome party last night as well where you were looking anything but lawyerly.

Additionally you always want to put your best foot forward and not by putting it directly in your mouth. For example the now infamous “bla bla bla” email that made its way around the world. This is not the way to secure a job or to create a professional image of yourself. Remember that all written and oral communications by you should be professional. The legal world although extremely large is also surprisingly small. Remember that what you do and how you act now does influence the way other people perceive you and not only that person but that person’s friends and associates and their friends and associates and so on and so on….
